The “situation analysis” evaluates business assets, strengths, and resources, as well as the opportunities and challenges of the external operating environment. Identification and thoughtful analysis of the most critical factors provides a foundation for setting company growth and business performance objectives. Investing in this front end “strategic thinking” phase of the planning process will pay off in terms of business goals that are realistic and the alignment of company resources and capabilities to best achieve those goals.
