The Economic Costs of Restricting the Portability of Electrical Workers

Session Type: Management
Location: MB
Speaker: Justin Reginato. PhD., P.E.

Date: Sunday, September 30, 2012
Time: 8:00 AM - 8:50 AM

Date: Sunday, September 30, 2012
Time: 9:00 AM - 9:50 AM

Description:

Restricting the ability of signatory electrical contractors to move union electricians to projects in multiple IBEW locals dramatically impacts their ability to compete with their non-unions counterparts. The most notable disadvantages from restricting portability include increased costs, lower productivity and quality, and increased difficulty servicing customers with projects in multiple locals. These problems ultimately reduce market share and negatively impact the bottom line of signatory contractors. This seminar will discuss the specific costs associated with restricting portability and some strategies for mitigating them.

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2012 Las Vegas.
