Description:
Due to overwhelming demand and standing room only at our Lean Applications in Electrical Prefabrication session at NECA San Diego 2011, this industry leading seminar has been returned and expanded for NECA Las Vegas 2012. Best in class firms are bringing 20-30% of their field labor into the prefabrication shop at an average productivity improvement of 30%. Understanding the importance of utilizing BIM and design for installation techniques during the preconstruction phase can drive success in prefabrication. Great success is being achieved by implementing scalable, lean manufacturing principles into prefabrication shops. To stay competitive in today’s market companies must stop thinking about prefabrication as a custom, once in a lifetime job and start thinking about it like a manufacturer where standard products are built for installation. We will discuss best practices being deployed in the industry including photos of the most productive and progressive shops in the US, the importance of product standardization, linking estimating to detailing to prefabrication to field installation, and logistics and inventory management ideas to further enhance cost reductions resulting in higher margins. Gain an understanding of the three levels of prefabrication and the use of BIM to drive their implementation. The three levels that will be discussed are single trade prefabrication, multi trade prefabrication, and fully integrated project delivery methods.
