LED Controls 101: Details on LED Lighting Circuits and Controls

Description:

LED lighting is the Wild West.  Lacking standards of almost all kinds, an LED lighting system can present significant problems in the field.  Controlling LED and especially, dimming LED is a major challenge.
This three hour workshop will explain:
  • How LED's work at the circuit level
  • What is a driver
  • The differences among various LED power circuit types (Constant voltage, constant current, etc.)
  • How LED are switched 
  • How LED are dimmed
  • What is a dimming driver
  • What is a dimming adaptor 
  • Control signaling (phase control, DMX-512, DALI, Ecosystem, 0-10 volt, etc)
  • LED controls in new installations
  • LED controls in existing installations
  • Case stories:  LED controls in common LED installations
  • Using NECA NEIS 504 as a guide to planning and installing LED controls
 Fee: $145

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2012 Las Vegas.
